What is NewsWatch?:

It was almost 30 years ago that NewsWatch TV aired its first episode, and since that time, it has grown in popularity and has refined the information it provides to keep up with the changing times. After all, if a television show that began in 1990 hopes to stay relevant decades later, it has to pay attention to what consumers want and what’s happening in the world.

While NewsWatch first began as a monthly program, it has increased in frequency since then. Now, with over 1,200 episodes filmed and aired, NewsWatch continues to be a juggernaut, racking up awards and helping viewers connect with the information they want and need. It has editorial segments as well as paid ones. Between all the segments, NewsWatch, which airs on the AMC Network and ION Network, has told over 10,000 individual stories. It covers a huge range of topics, such as finance, travel, new products, celebrity news, automobiles, charities, and medical breakthroughs.

In recent years, it has continued to get recognition for being a great show and has won several prestigious awards for being tops in its industry. Some of the awards include a 2016 Silver Telly Award and a Gold and Platinum 2017 Marcom Award. Host Andrew Tropeano has also netted a Spokeie Award.

The Reach of NewsWatch

Every NewsWatch episode can be seen in 96 million households throughout the country. During its history, the show has been accessible by 700 million people.

Part of the allure of the show for some viewers is the celebrity segment. A lot of famous faces have appeared on NewsWatch over the years. More than 650 celebrities have filmed segments in which they talk about causes near and dear to their hearts. In the past couple of years, the show has attracted Hollywood’s biggest names, including Dwayne Johnson, Will Smith, Mila Kunis, Denzel Washington, Colin Firth, and Bradley Cooper.

But another reason people tune into NewsWatch religiously is because of the products they feature. Well-known companies, such as Dewars Whiskey, Legos, Bounty, Suave, and Toyota, have all had segments on the show.

The Engaging Faces of NewsWatch

No news show lasts as long as NewsWatch has without having top talent to lead the way. NewsWatch has had a string of talented hosts and reporters who have found ways to connect with their audience over the years.

The current hosts, Andrew Tropeano, Michelle Ison, and Chris Vaughn, bring a fun vibe and a lot of energy to the show.

Tropeano, who lives in Washington D.C., began working for NewsWatch in 2010, while Ison, who lives in Virginia, is more of a newcomer. Vaughn, who serves as tech analyst, is also a resident of Washington D.C. His humor is greatly appreciated by viewers because technology can sometimes be boring – Vaughn knows how to liven it up so he can educate and inform viewers.

But NewsWatch has other staff as well, including reporters who bring a lot to the table. They include Eric Forrest, who is a mobile technology reporter, technology reporter Amanda Forstrom, special reporter Susan Bridges, and special reporter Scott Steinberg.

Keeping Up with the Changing Times

As it has evolved over the years, NewsWatch has kept abreast of technology issues and changes so they could update their audience about that as well.

With the growing popularity of apps and smartphones, NewsWatch developed an AppWatch segment that launched in 2012. With this feature, viewers get the lowdown on all the latest and awe-inspiring mobile apps. They cover a variety of apps that can be used on Android, iOS, and Windows devices, so there is something for everyone.

They make tech understandable for people who can barely turn on their remote controls and they give enough details on the items to interest hard-core techies too.

With the evolution of the internet and the explosion of social media, NewsWatch also smartly began offering segments online as well as on television. It launched a YouTube channel in 2012, and that has racked up millions of views since then.

What NewsWatch Excels At

NewsWatch has always been great at producing segments that connect with people, that cut through the public relations gloss and get right to the heart of the matter. Viewers have come to depend upon NewsWatch for its sense of savvy, but also for the clear-cut explanations it gives.

Businesses have learned to rely on NewsWatch too, but for a different reason – they count on the show to get their message out about their products. The visibility NewsWatch provides can make an instant success out of a product, or it can help them raise money to fund the production of a new idea for a product.

One such company that saw unbelievable success with NewsWatch was Avanca, which was trying to raise money through crowdfunding for the Ockel Sirius B pocket PC it was working on developing. Avanca set a crowdfunding goal of $10,000 it wanted to reach in 30 days. To help meet that goal, NewsWatch was brought in by Avanca to develop and film a one-minute segment that would air on its show and online channels.

In just one month, Avanca raised far more than its $10,000 goal – it reached $456,551.

Those one-minute segments can be a powerful promotion for companies, but it also informs consumers about products that can have a positive impact on their lives.

These one-minute segments aren’t the only thing NewsWatch does to introduce viewers to cutting-edge products. The show also sends reporters to the hottest conventions so they can find the next big thing and bring it back for the viewers to see.

Earlier this year, NewsWatch TV staff went to Barcelona to check out the Mobile World Congress where they reviewed some of the newest technology being introduced. Attending these kinds of conventions is just one of the reasons NewsWatch has remained relevant over the years. It’s dedicated to excellence and providing top-notch information, and that’s unlikely to change during the show’s upcoming years. The staff at NewsWatch may have a rich past, but they keep looking to the future.
