Oddities Of Christmas

Christmas is a fun holiday for children and adults alike. It’s a time when you can gather together to celebrate family and traditions while giving to others. You’ve probably sung “Jingle Bells” at Christmas, but this song was really meant for the Thanksgiving holiday. In some countries, Santa comes from Spain instead of the North Pole. The Netherlands is one country that uses this concept. Another interesting fact about this area of the world is that Santa’s helpers are boys and girls with black faces instead of elves. These boys and girls are said to take children back to Spain if they misbehave.

A spider web ornament on a tree is said to bring good luck because some believe that a spider made the first baby blanket for Jesus out of the web. In order for Santa to deliver all of the presents to boys and girls across the world in one night, he is said to stretch time so that it slows down. Over the course of the two weeks before Christmas, more couples break up than during any other time of the year. The stress of the holiday season and the new year are some of the reasons for this to occur.
