Turkey Trivia For Thanksgiving

While everyone is enjoying Thanksgiving dinner, there are a few interesting pieces of information that you might want to bring up as a way to talk about the holiday. The popular TV dinner that you might enjoy on occasion started because of Thanksgiving. A worker at Swanson who was responsible for the turkeys prepared too many, and the meat was carved into small pieces before being put in a tray with side items. One of the busiest professions for the day after Thanksgiving is a plumber because of all the food items that are washed down sinks and because there are more people using one bathroom in a house compared to how busy the room is the rest of the year.

Ben Franklin wanted the national bird to be the turkey. He thought that it was a respectable animal instead of the eagle. You might think that Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated only in the United States. However, Canada celebrates the day in a similar fashion. The only difference is that it’s in October instead of November. After eating a nice dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, you might start to feel sleepy. Some blame it on the turkey, but it’s really because you used more calories and energy to digest all the food you ate.
