The world’s youngest mother, who gave birth to a fully developed child, is Lina Medina. She was born on September 27, 1933 in, a small Andean village. She enjoyed playing with her friends in her village and learning new things. After all she was just a child. However, when Lina was 5, her stomach began to bulge and her body began to mature abnormally for her age. Medina was brought to a hospital by her parents. She was originally thought to have had a tumor, but her doctors determined she was in her seventh month of pregnancy. Dr. Gerardo Lozada took her to Lima, Peru, prior to the surgery to have other specialists confirm that Medina was pregnant. Once she arrived at the Lima hospital, doctors concluded that she would have to have a cesarean section. Due to the fact that Lina was too young to give birth naturally. When she was just 5 years 7 months and 21 days old on Mother’s Day, May 14th, of 1939, she gave birth to a healthy 6-pound baby boy. She named him Gerardo, after her doctor. When asked who the father was, Lina did not give an answer. Many believed her father had molested her and got her pregnant. He was arrested, but because of lack of evidence, the case was dropped.
