“The Golden Girls” is a show that was once popular in the 1980s. It’s still seen on some television channels, resulting in a new fan following. The title of the series was supposed to be “Miami Nice,” but since it was about four elderly women who lived together, the show received a different title. Although Estelle Getty is the oldest woman in the house, she is actually the youngest actress among the cast members. It took over an hour for artists to get her makeup and hair just right for each taping so that she would look like an 80-year-old woman. Bea Arthur had to be coaxed into appearing on the show. Rue McClanahan, Betty White, and Bea Arthur all starred on other television shows before they gathered together for “The Golden Girls.” Bea Arthur wasn’t seen in a positive light by the audience, and producers almost found someone else to play the part of Dorothy. However, the script was written with Arthur in mind. She did make a few changes as to how her character acted on the show, which resulted in the audience relating to a good bit of her storyline and the issues that she faced in life.
